In a perfect world, sixteen-year-old Phoebe Martins’ life would be a book. Preferably a YA novel with magic and a hot paranormal love interest. Unfortunately, her life probably wouldn’t even qualify for a quiet contemporary. But when Phoebe finds out that Dev, the hottest guy in the clarinet section, might actually have a crush on her, she turns to her favorite books for advice. Phoebe overhauls her personality to become as awesome as her favorite heroines and win Dev’s heart. But if her plan fails, can she go back to her happy world of fictional boys after falling for the real thing?

***I received an e-galley of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

I have been so excited about Bookishly Ever After since I first heard about it months ago! The main character is a big book lover, so of course I knew this was a book that I needed to read. I am SO GLAD that I did! I really enjoyed reading Bookishly Ever After. It is so easy to relate to the main character and I found the story to be super cute. Bookishly Ever After is a great debut! It is full of cuteness, awkward encounters, friendship, and bookish awesomeness!

Phoebe loves to read and live life through her books. If only life was as exciting as the books she loves to read. When Phoebe finds out that Dev might have a crush on her, she turns to her favorite book heroines to help her figure out what to do. Will the advice from her favorite books help her get the guy?

I know I mentioned this before, but Bookishly Ever After is so cute. I had a lot of fun reading this story. I really liked the story line and the characters. The chapters are fairly short and quick to read. I couldn't wait to find out what advice Phoebe would pull out of her favorite books next. I love how this book has so many of my favorite things in it! Like band, books, and musical theater. There are so many moments throughout the story that made me smile.

Phoebe is a great main character. She is adorable, sweet, smart, and has that "girl next door" innocence. She is in band and knits and is shy. I found her to be a very relatable character and I think others will agree.  I love how bookish she is, and how that love relates to her life. I enjoyed how she developed as a character throughout the story. And I really enjoyed her interactions with her friends and Dev.

I really liked Phoebe's friends: Em, Grace, and Alec as well. Phoebe has some really good friends. Em came across as a little controlling at times. But overall I could really feel how much she cares about Phoebe and just wants to help her and for her to be happy. Grace is another fun character. I really liked the one on one scenes with her and Phoebe. As well as the parts that included Leia too.

Dev is a good character. He is musical and smart, but also shy and awkward. I really enjoyed the interactions between him and Phoebe. I had no problem cheering for them and hoping they would figure out how to admit their feelings for one another.

My Recommendation:

Bookishly Ever After is a fun and cute debut novel. It has bookish moments mixed with reality and pop-culture references that made me smile. I really enjoyed reading this bookish romance! I definitely recommend giving it a read if you enjoy light, fluffy, and adorable romances! I can't wait to find out what happens next!
