Overall, I think this is a very interesting book. This was our first Ellis the Elephant book, so I definitely think we will need to check out this book series. I picked this book out from the library based on the title: Land of the Pilgrims' Pride, thinking it would be a good Thanksgiving read. The Pilgrims that landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts wasn't the focus of the story. But instead more about all of the original Thirteen Colonies and how The United States of America started. This book is packed full of early American history and information. I think that it is a good introduction for children to learn about the Thirteen Colonies. The words flow and rhyme, which keeps children interested in listening to the story. The illustrations are also great. Though, I do think my 4th grader understood the story a lot more than my Kindergartner. The book recommends ages 4-8 on the front cover. Both girls seemed to enjoy the story though. So I recommend checking it out!
